Here is the EASIEST way to make super easy baby doll clothes out of your old baby onesies. A simple sleep sack made out of newborn onsies can keep your toddler occupied and keep you from having to give away or store your babies precious first outfits.

Ready for a quick 10 minute project?

Simple baby doll sleep sack… GO!

Armed with just basic sewing machine know-how or even a needle and thread you can turn a basic onesie into a baby doll sleep sack. Heck, I bet you could even use a tiny zip-tie if you had to!

Just can’t part with my baby’s old clothes.
  • Firstly, gather up your supplies: Onsies you’d like to “up-cycle” and dolls or stuffed animals that are close in size. Pen of some sort and a pair of scissors.
Perfect match.
  • Once you have a good match, line up onesie and doll shoulder to shoulder to be sure the sleep sack will be long enough (too long is perfectly fine too). Flip the onesie inside out. Mark with a pen or marker if needed.
  • Pin the layers in place if you’d like, sew along the line you’ve made, THEN cut off the extra fabric. Truth be told, you don’t even need to cut off the extra fabric if it makes you nervous because it will be folded inside once the garment is flipped inside out.
  • Now, flip the garment right side out through the neck hole. Wonder how you’ll get it on the doll without a zip or snaps? Easy. Just poke the doll feet in the collar and pull the onesie up and over the doll and tuck arms in. Done.

See? Super easy baby doll clothes in less than a few minutes!
