Feeding a crowd? Don’t spend all morning in front of the stove, instead whip up a batch of candied citrus pancakes. This simple sheet pan breakfast is great for meal prep too!
Thick pancakes drizzled with warm spiced orange syrup topped with whipped cream. Yum! The candied oranges in syrup take less than 30 minutes to make, only about 5 minutes of that is hands on. The pancake takes 15 minutes in the oven and takes mere minutes to whip up. So easy. So delicious.

Syrup ingredients
- 2 oranges (or equal amount of other citrus)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup orange juice (or use 2 cups water omitting juice)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- splash of vanilla extract
Syrup directions
- In a sauce pan, add the sugar, liquids and nutmeg. Stir to dissolve all the sugar. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Reduce to a simmer.
- Wash and thinly slice oranges. If you’d like to give your syrup a more “marmalade” like quality, thinly slice the discarded ends like the photo below. So tasty!
- Add oranges to a bowl and cover with boiling water. Let sit for 2 minutes to remove bitterness. Drain. Carefully add oranges to sugar mixture.
- Return to a heavy boil while stirring for about 2 minutes. Reduce to a simmer. Let it simmer for up to 30 minutes stirring occasionally. Do not let it burn.
- Sliced oranges can be placed on your pancake before baking while syrup and any zest can be transferred to a serving dish. So pretty!

Pancake ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour

Top with whipped cream, a drizzle of orange syrup and sprinkle with nutmeg. Man this goes GREAT with coffee! XO
